Upon Request rob@ohiovalleybeachvolleyball.com

For the season of 2026, Ohio Valley Beach Volleyball Club will again offer a Beach club opportunity for all those athletes interested in pursuing beach volleyball as a club option.

What does being a member of the Ohio Valley Beach Volleyball club program look like?

Club members will receive weekly training, competition travel opportunities, camp and clinic opportunities, college beach volleyball counseling and recruiting help, and generally an opportunity to be a part of a fun and competitive beach volleyball community.

How does a beach volleyball club differ from an indoor volleyball club?

Beach volleyball is almost like an individual sport. The athletes train as individual players and pick partners, or are paired with partners to compete in tournaments. There are no permanently set pairs by the coach; there is no bench, and coaches can only coach in timeouts and side switches and a good portion of the time, you will not have a coach on your court. Even in college, the same coaching rules apply, and only a few of the courts competing generally have a coach for their whole match. The athletes have to be able to intellectually understand strategy and how to execute as a team in every situation based on their training.

Practices at Ohio Valley Beach are tiered by talent and generally have 8 athletes on a court and a coach running that group through the day’s training curriculum.

This is a big change from the indoor game, which is very coach-controlled. The indoor coach determines positions, the line-up, the strategy, and stands nearly on the court during play and is consistently guiding the team’s actions. Practices are very positionally based and team-oriented, not individual-oriented; the sports are almost polar opposites from these perspectives.

Beach tournament competition travel is another big difference. The club will choose a number of events to go to as a full club. In those scenarios, the club will offer transportation, lodging, food  and tournament organization at the site. A dollar amount will be placed on those trips and the athletes and families will make a decision on whether they would like to go on the trip or send their child with the club van. Travel is not mandatory, the athletes and families decide what they would like to participate in. There are also many tournaments offered outside of the ones that the club as a group will attend. The athletes can go play individually in any events they desire. This is very common based on the athletes desire to travel There is almost always a tournament offered somewhere to travel to.

The Training Schedule

The club training schedule will be Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays,  from 3:45 to 6:00 and take place at Liberty Collective

In August, September, and October, during indoor High school season, the club will also be running a 10 to 12 Sunday practice at Liberty Collective to give the athletes a chance to keep in the sand a bit over the fall.

The athletes are expected to generally make a minimum of one practice a week to be in the club. We understand the ebbs and flows of the year and don’t have a problem if the athletes have to miss some extended time due to other commitments. But again, generally, the commitment level is one practice a week.

The cost to be in the club

The cost will be $1450 to join the club. The club practice will begin Sunday, August 12th, 2025, and run through August 1st, 2026. That is about 170 training opportunities over the year. It’s a really good value for those athletes who want to train consistently to grow their games.

  • This cost does not include uniforms or travel tournament costs. These will be offered, and the athletes and families can choose their level of participation.

The Club will only take 32 Total Athletes for the New Season, so sign up quickly if you are sure you want to participate!

  • If you were in the club during the 2024-2025 season, you can register immediately.
