Ohio Valley Beach Volleyball Club
2026/2027 Season Information
A Complete Beach Volleyball Club Experience
The 2026/2027 season at Ohio Valley Beach Volleyball Club is designed to provide athletes with a high-level,
intentional, and competitive beach volleyball experience. Our program gives athletes the opportunity to train,
compete, travel, develop independence, and take ownership of their growth in one of the fastest-growing volleyball
pathways.
Beach volleyball is an individual-growth sport built around skill, decision-making, partnership, toughness, and
accountability. At Ohio Valley Beach, athletes are challenged to become complete players who can compete with
different partners, understand the game, and pursue the level of success they personally desire.

Training
Ohio Valley Beach athletes train in a focused, high-repetition beach volleyball environment led by master coaches
Rob Long and Kike Perez.
Full-time athletes receive three weekly 2.5-hour practices from 3:30–6:00. Each practice includes beach-specific
warm-up work, skill repetition, dynamic movement training, spacing and movement drills, competitive game-
situation training, and live play.
Training courts are organized by skill level rather than age group, creating a competitive environment where
athletes are consistently challenged. The desired training ratio is eight athletes per court with one coach, allowing
for meaningful repetition, coaching feedback, and competitive development.
New for This Season
The club is adding one weekly strength, fitness, and beach-specific plyometric training session. This session will
focus on reaction, movement, explosiveness, strength, technique, and the physical tools needed to become a more
complete beach athlete.

Tournaments & Competition
Ohio Valley Beach will offer one club tournament opportunity per month from November through July. The club will
focus on P1440, USA Volleyball, and AVP events, while also pursuing p1440 and USA National Championship
qualification opportunities.
This season will also include one to two BVCA Club v Club events in a duals-style format. These events are new
for the club, and coaches will select the pairs internally. Full-time club athletes will be expected to participate.
Athletes may also compete in additional tournaments on their own schedule and may choose to play with partners
inside or outside the club.
When the club travels to tournaments, athletes may participate in travel packages that include transportation,
lodging, meals, and tournament coaching support. These opportunities are offered à la carte so families can
choose the level of support that works best for them.

Partnering Philosophy

Choosing the right partner is one of the most important and challenging parts of beach volleyball. Ohio Valley
Beach teaches athletes that there is no perfect partner or perfect team. Every partnership brings strengths,
challenges, growth opportunities, and lessons.
Athletes are encouraged to take ownership of finding partners through the relationships they build in training. Rob
and Kike can help athletes find partners when needed, but the first responsibility belongs to the athlete.
This season, if an athlete asks the Club Director to help find a partner, the club will first look within Ohio Valley
Beach. Rob and Kike will make the match, and that pairing will need to be accepted.

Coaching Approach
Beach volleyball requires athletes to think, adjust, communicate, and compete with limited coaching intervention
during matches. Ohio Valley Beach trains athletes to understand strategy, game planning, execution,
environmental factors, and team strengths and weaknesses.
The goal is to develop athletes who can own their game, make decisions, and take accountability for both winning
and losing. Tournament coaching support will be provided, but athletes are expected to grow in their ability to
compete independently and solve problems on the court.

Recruiting Support
Ohio Valley Beach supports athletes in the recruiting process based on their personal goals. Each athlete will have
the opportunity to meet one-on-one with Rob to discuss goals, identify targets, and build a plan.
Recruiting guidance may include video, communication with college coaches, event selection, camps, showcases,
and education around the recruiting process. The club will support the process, but athletes are expected to take
ownership of the actions required to be recruited.
