El Segundo, Calif (September 19, 2019) p1440, the first ever media company built around beach volleyball and co-founded by 5x Olympian Kerri Walsh Jennings, will launch a first-of-its-kind membership program for elite junior players age 18U, 16U and 14U. Veteran Club Director Rob Long, Founder and Owner of Next Level Beach Volleyball in Ohio will lead the program’s operations, working with directors and tournament directors across the country to partner and host Junior Elite Clinics and Tournaments.
The Elite membership program will be available to select elite players nationwide by invitation only. Club Coaches or Club Directors may submit player recommendations and any players with existing collegiate commitments are also eligible.
Long has been a trailblazer and leader in growing the new generation of beach talent since 2012 when the NCAA announced beach volleyball would become an official women’s sport. Long’s Ohio-based club is one of the country’s most successful feeder programs for the collegiate game. p1440’s partnership will expand this footprint nationally and provide even more opportunities for athletes in one of the fastest growing grassroots sports ever.
“Young athletes know there is a real pathway for them in the sport now and the number of players deciding to go straight to beach has exploded,” said Long, “I’m thrilled to partner with p1440 to create a national program that will provide new resources and opportunities for junior players across the country.”
The program marks the first of p1440’s membership offerings which will expand to include open memberships for Junior athletes of all levels in the coming months.
“As we grow our media platform, we want to not only showcase our sport’s rising young players but create a structure that allows them to thrive,” said Walsh Jennings. “Our Junior Elite membership program gives players access to what I could have only dreamed of as a Junior player and with Rob’s leadership, it will become the gold standard in Junior athlete development.”
